Hey
I still wonder how a person or a group or an idea can inspire the whole country.. How !! What are the means !! How to reach the common man !! Where to Start where to end ? What are the challenges !! etc. etc.,
Guys !! this is not a political discussion or marketing discussion !!.. rather I can describe it might be a psychological discussion !! just to think about in that angle too.
Just take an example..... when India is fighting for freedom, how our leaders made us unite ?? At that time we don't have good communication channels, not even 40% people are literate, more than 600 provinces and different kings, kingdoms, Jamindars etc., etc., still we became unite to fight for freedom !! how? What inspired us?
May be Sacrifice by our leaders, Principles that they are fighting for ??
Just to mention some names, some where I read that before India got Independence, Motilal Nehru (Father of Jawaharlal Nehru), has a wealth to feed the whole India for more than 90 days. Still Jawaharlal Nehru fought for freedom. Gandhiji fought for freedom with the principles, Non-Violence, Non-Cooperation. There are lot of educated, cultured, well living people left all their luxuries and fought for freedom. ..common people liked it and joined the leaders.
I read one article some where the one key member to unite India is Lokamanya Tilak. As we know, we had lot of sentiments about our religion, culture. Even Hindus, they have different kinds of tradition for same festivals based on state or area or caste. What Mr. Tilak has done is he made people to celebrate the festivals together by everybody like Ganesh Festival (Vinayaka Chavithi). We know it is big festival for Hindus. On that day the whole India celebrates. In Mumbai, the biggest idol will be made. Every corner of the street, young guys celebrate Ganesh Festival in hyderabad. Infact every home will have Ganesh idol and prayer. Even Muslims also participate in the festival. In Hyderabad, the biggest Ganesh idol was made by a muslim every year for the last 30 years. When Muslim festival comes, we used to participate in Ramdan and Bakr-Ed etc.,
So the bottom line is in India, to unite the people, our leaders used religion, festivals also as a tool for a good cause.
I was just comparing the above with the events happened in the world. Even for bad causes also people made united, using some other means. !!
To make a world war II, how Najis got united by language, by Physique, by leadership in technology etc.,
Surprisingly in South Africa, games and sports were used as a tool to unite the country !! Shocked ?? how could be possible??
Similar thing guys!!.. even if we fight for different things.. when there is India Vs Pakistan cricket match.. how we become united to support India, how our roads becomes empty and everybody in the country watch the game !! and cheer for India.. (Of course !! I am not mentioning the people who support Pakistan even they are Indians !! )
When South Africa got freedom in 1994, still there was lot of differences between the people by race. People were not joining each other to feel the equality. This was one of the biggest challenge to Nelson Mandela (People call him as Madiba (Grand Father) with love) at that time. He chose the Rugby game as the means of uniting the country.
Rugby was the game mostly played by Afrikans (Whites) at that time. Lot of common people at that time don't even know how to play. With the inspiration and personal encouragement given by Madiba, South African Team (Springboks) won the worldcup in 1995. The whole country felt so happy everybody cheered for the South Africa Team !! and the united spirits were lifted up. As usual, Hollywood (Americans) made this as a movie, "Invictus" and earned lot of money. If you have time, watch that movie.. it is interesting.
The same kind of thing happened again in South Africa in 2010 in FIFA world cup. I am glad to see how people encouraged their South African team, Bafana Bafana !! Not Banana Banana.. !! :-)
Every office in the country, every school in the country every where.. people supported their national team.
Every Friday, until the games are over, people wore their team T shirt, the one with yellow and green colours (of course with this the great Chinese manufacturers minted the money, each T shirt is R600 Rands i.e., INR 3600/- that is a different story). Most the companies sponsored their employees the T shirt with the company logo. In offices decoration competions, Diski dance (Dance like playing football) competitions etc., Even some people cut their food budget to buy T-Shirts and to buy the FIFA tickets to support the team.
This year we have Common Wealth Games, 2010 in New Delhi. In 2011 India is hosting the Cricket World cup. Are we going to see the similar spirit in India.. I doubt !! Lets see!!
Anyway.. Lets hope for the best !!

maa vooru maaripoindi
నేను సౌత్ ఆఫ్రికా వచ్చే ముందు ఒకసారి మా వూరు (మాచర్ల )వెళ్లి వచ్చాను. మా వూరు చాలా మారి పోయింది. ఇదివరకు అందరు హాయిగా ఆరు బయట పడుకునే వాళ్ళం. లేదంటే మేడ మీద పడుకునే వాళ్ళం. చల్లటి గాలి వచ్చేది, హాయిగా నిద్ర పోయే వాళ్ళం.
మొన్న వెళ్ళినప్పుడు అసలు బయట పడుకునే వాడే లేదు. ఇంటి పైన పడుకునే వాళ్ళు కూడా లేరు. ఎంతప్పటికి ఏ సి లు వేసుకునే వాళ్ళు, కూలర్స్ వేసుకునే వాళ్ళే తప్ప చల్లటి చెట్టు గాలి లో పడుకుందాం అనుకునే వాడే లేడు వూళ్ళో. ఎం చేస్తాం !! కాల మహిమ. !! నేను పడుకుంటా అన్నా మా అమ్మ నాన్న "ఏం వద్దులే, ఇంట్లో పడుకో అని గట్టిగా చెప్పారు. ఏం చేస్తా.. వినకపోతే అదో గోల ఎందుకులే అని ఇంట్లోనే పడుకున్నా.
నిద్ర గురించే కాదు. ఎండా కాలం అంటే తెలుసు కదా..వూరిలో సాయంత్రం 2 గంటలు కనీసం కరెంటు పోయేది. చిన్నప్పుడు కరెంటు పోతే అందరు బయటికి వచ్చి సరదాగా కబుర్లు చెప్పేవాళ్ళు. పెద్దవాళ్ళు వుంటే మంచి మంచి నీతి కథలు చెప్పే వాళ్ళు, వాళ్ళ అనుభవాలు చెప్పేవాళ్ళు. గొప్ప నాయకుల గురించి చెప్పేవాళ్ళు, ఈ లోపు అమ్మ అన్నం కలుపుకుని వచెది అందరికి తల ఒక ముద్ద కలిపి తినిపించేది. సరదాగా ఆడుకునే వాళ్ళం, పాడుకునే వాళ్ళం. ఆ రోజులు ఇప్పుడు రమ్మన్నా రావు !!
అయినా నా పిచ్చి గానీ, Nintendos , Playstations రోజుల్లో పెద్ద వాళ్ళ కథలు అసలు ఎవరు చెప్తారు ఎవరు వింటారు ? ఇప్పుడు మనవాళ్ళకి చదువు పెరిగింది కానీ సంస్కారం తగ్గుతోంది. దీని గురించి తర్వాత చెప్తాను.
మంచి నీళ్ళు కూడా కొనుక్కోవలసి వస్తోంది మా వూళ్ళో!! ఈ విషయం లో హైదరాబాద్ నయం, ఇంకా స్వచ్చమయిన మంజీరా నీళ్ళు వస్తున్నాయి.
ఇప్పుడు కరెంటు పోగానే.. ఇన్వేర్టేర్స్ స్టార్ట్ అవుతాయి. అసలు బయటికి వెళ్ళాల్సిన అవసరమే రాదు. ఇప్పుకు మా సందు లో ఒక చెట్టు లేదు, చల్లటి గాలి అంత కంటే లేదు. అంతా కాంక్రీంటు ప్రపంచం అయిపోయింది. ఎంతప్పటికి ఫ్యాన్ గాలి లేదంటే ఏ సి గాలి. అంతే..
నిజంగానే మా వూరు మారి పోయింది.
చిన్న ఊరిలోనే ఇలా వుంటే హైదరాబాద్ లో ఎలా వుంటుందో ఊహించండి. !! మనం కూడా గ్లోబల్ వార్మింగ్ కి కారణమే.
అందరు మన రాజకీయ నాయకులు లాగా అమెరికా వాళ్ళే ఈ గ్లోబల్ వార్మింగ్ కి కారణం అనకుండా మనం అందరం కరెంటు, పెట్రోలు వాడకం వీలైనంత తగ్గించాలి . వీలైతే కనీసం మనం అద్దెకు వుండే ఇంట్లో అయినా.. ఒక చిన్న చెట్టు నాటాలి. ఈ విషయం లో నేను కొంచెం అదృష్ట వంతుడినే !! ఇక్కడ సౌత్ ఆఫ్రికా లో మా ఇంట్లో చిన్న తోట కూడా వుంది.. చిన్న చిన్న మొక్కలు పెంచుతున్నాను. అంటే మనం చేసేది పెద్దగా ఏం లేదనుకోండి.

సరదాగా అవి ఇవి
ప్రస్తుతానికి నేను సౌత్ ఆఫ్రికా లో పని చేస్తున్నా.. మొత్తానికి ఇలా సరదాగా దేశాలు తిరగటం బానే వున్నా.. ప్రయాణాలు ఎక్కువై.. బోర్ కొట్టింది.. అందుకే ఒకేచోట పని చేద్దాం అని అనుకుని.. సౌత్ ఆఫ్రికా లో వచ్చిన అవకాశం వదులుకోలేదు.
ఇప్పుడు సౌత్ ఆఫ్రికా లో ఫిఫా ఫుట్ బాల్ వరల్డ్ కప్ జరుగుతోంది. చాల సరదాగా వుంది.. ఇక్కడ.. అందరూ చాలా సరదాగా.. ఈ గేమ్ ని ఫాలో అవుతున్నారు. ఎంతైనా.. సౌత్ ఆఫ్రికా లో ఆటలపై ధ్యాస చాలా ఎక్కువ.. మన IPL ని వీళ్ళు చాలా బాగా రిసీవ్ చేసుకున్నారు. ఐ పి ల్ ౩ ఇక్కడ జగనందుకు.. చాలా మంది ఫీల్ అయ్యారు.
అయినా మనకు మన తల్లి తండ్రులకు ఆటల కంటే IAS, IPS IIT డాక్టర్స్ అంటే నే గౌరవం ఎక్కువ. నిన్న పేపర్ లో చదివాను.. మెస్సి (అర్జంటినా) 200 కోట్లు జస్ట్ దానం చేసాడంట. మనం IIT చేసి ఎన్నాళ్ళు సంపాదించాలి.. 200 కోట్లు ??
ఇప్పటిదాకా లైఫ్ లో నేను నేర్చుకున్నది ఒక్కటే. లైఫ్ లో ఏదైనా సరే.. మనసు పెట్టి చేస్తే.. విజయం సాధించటం పెద్ద విషయం కాదు. ఆటలైనా చదువైనా !!
ఇంత సోది ఎందుకు అంటే.. మన టీం లేదు కదా FIFA లో !! అందుకు !!
కానీ.. ఒక విషయం లో మాత్రం నేను చాలా ఆనందం గా వున్నాను. ఇంత పెద్ద ఈవెంట్ కి టెక్నాలజీ పార్ట్నర్ సత్యం కంప్యూటర్స్. ఫుట్ బాల్స్ అన్ని ఇండియా లో నే తాయారు చేస్తారు.
